When Angela and Cullan asked me to photograph their Ojibwe (also Ojibwa, Ojibway and Chippewa) style wedding at Wanuskewin Heritage Park just north of Saskatoon I was extremely excited. I always like experiencing other cultures.

The day started out a little chilly and gloomy. The guests had to walk through the valley trails to get to the ceremony spot located on the other side of the valley overlooking the South Saskatchewan River. It was a beautifully simple ceremony setup with some chairs and a tippee.

The ceremony started outside with a little drizzle coming down. All the guests, including myself, took part in the ceremony, which made me feel like not just a photographer documenting their day, but a part of the family.

Then the rain and wind came. We all headed inside the tippee, soaking wet, to finish the traditional ceremony.

After the eventful ceremony, we walked back through the valley trails and heading inside the Museum portion of the park for a drum circle and some dancing.
